Morning, I have posted on GD page but have some blood questions if someone can help me. I think im trying to find a way out but once I understand maybe I can accept n move on. Im 17wks and looking likely to start metaformin or insulin on tuesday. Its my evening bloods that cause concern to my consultants as each eve they rise but is thia me doing it wrong maybe. My questions are...
Does a person without diabetes have rises?

Some of my bloods in eve are only 2 hours after eating if had late tea e.g 8.5, 3hours after cone of chips and 8.0, 3 hours after tea. Can you have this if not diabetic or wud my levels return to normal?

Is 11.3 hi 30 mins after eating an apple in evening or can anyone have that.

Thankyou, I hope my questions not silly I just dont no what bloods are like before diabetes x

Hello Ela,

I hope this answers your questions:

http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

If not, fire off another question - my wife had GD with our second, so I'm a bit more aware of it.

It may also help if you check out the home page for other links about GD as well as the Diabetes UK page: http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to...Other-types-of-diabetes/Gestational-diabetes/ as this will help you get a better understanding about GD and how you can manage it during your pregnancy... it IS hugely important that you do manage it because:
  1. You have an increased chance of developing Type 2 diabetes;
  2. The child has an increased chance of developing Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes if you do not control your BG's accordingly.
There's lots of information and advice about good diets for diabetes, check out the home page of this website for further links.

Best wishes with it all - and the pregnancy!
Conrad
