newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes

Hi all,
This morning my bs was 7.4 before breakfast so it has come down tremendously. I have 2x shredded wheat biscuits with a drop of milk for breakfast and a salad for lunch consisting of lettuce, cucumber, radish, carrot, beetroot, celery, small pieces of ham (un breaded. For drink, a drop of tea without sugar of any kind. Dinner varies, but I have cut down at least 50% of what used to be on my plate.

Well done on getting your fasting BG down. :)
You may have a shock when you test after your shredded wheat biscuits, but you may be lucky!
Be careful with carrot and radish - not too much. Try drizzling some olive oil or real mayo over your salad as it will help fill you up, and we need some fat in the absence of carbs.

Just thought I would let you know, that I tried a little test like what you said about certain meals. Well I was shocked to find out that one meal that I love made my bs 5.1 higher after 2x hours of eating the meal compared with what it was just before the meal. I am also finding out with the results I have been doing, that my bs is higher at the weekend then during the week. One question I do have and I don't know if you can answer it and that is, " is it best to have 3x meals a day, or more meals but less portions over the day to stop bs spikes?".
hi,welcome to the forum, as a few people have said, steep learning curve and lots of experimenting ahead to see what works for you, so hang on in there and things will become clearer in time. i'm on a lchf diet and i was advised to leave at least 5hrs between meals with no snacking in between, in order to give my system time to reset itself after eating. if i have an early start i'll eat 3 meals a day, but i often only have 2, usually with decent-sized portions. my bg levels are now well within normal levels with no meds - very high when i was diagnosed a few years ago.
