hi i have been diagnosed as type 2 about 5 weeks ago wsas given a file to read and put on one metformin with breakfast was told to cut down on fats and sugers only plain biccys and 2 cubes of choc a week aprt from that no dietry advice and not having my blood checked for 6 months is this normal dont have to check myself or anything

sounds quite 'open ended' really.
what tests have been done.
what were the results?
have you been referred to anybody (diabetic nurse, dietician)

it seems that every PTC has a different way of handling things. I had three appts within the first week, and have already had two additonal HBA1c tests, along with two dietician appts.
I am with the herts PTC.

Good luck.

I was in denial for the first 12 months, never changed my eating habits at all. I found out hopefully not too late that metformin is not a magic pill.
Keep reading this forum there is plenty of good advice.
