Hi everyone!
I have been diagnosed with diabetes for nearly 2 years. I have had a c-peptide test which confirmed type 2 diabetes, however i am only 19 years old and i am not over weight what so ever. The consultants are currently looking into MODY as this seems to be more appropiate for my age etc. I have never had good control over my blood sugars are they are constantly high. I am currently on
- 24 units of insulatard am/pm
- metformin am/pm
- Carb counting on a 1:1 ratio using novo rapid

If anyone can just give me some advice or just a helping hand?

Hi. I would think it highly unlikely that you are a T2 at 19 yrs and not overweight. I note that you are already on insulin. The c-peptide test would show your natural insulin level which I suspect showed it to be low? So, yes it could be MODY, LADA (Late onset T1) or one of the other rare variants. A GAD test might show that you have antibodies for LADA, but it can sometimes be inconclusive. Whatever your diagnosis, sadly it is likely that you will need to stay on insulin. Good luck.

Hi, yes i do. Both my parents, grandparents and a few other family members on my fathers side of the family. My mother got gestantional diabetes when she was pregnant with me. When i was born i was premeture and a heavy baby and was given insulin soon after birth. Laura
