I've been testing and low carbing for a month now and have learnt so much on this forum
One of the biggest shocks was learning just how my porridge affected my glucose levels, sent them sky high, yet I was always told it's the best breakfast for diabetics!
I told my diabetic nurse (DN) that it had raised my levels from 21 to 29 in just an hour and she said 'that's fine, they're good carbs' ! A high reading is a high reading however it was caused and carries the same dangers, yet she was totally unconcerned and said to carry on eating it!
I'm not usually one to say ignore doctors advice, but in this respect they're wrong, we're right and the quicker they realise it the better for all diabetics
