Roche in the UK has launched the next generation of the popular Accu-Chek® Mobile blood glucose monitoring system.
The Accu-Chek Mobile system features strip-free technology in the form of 50 tests on a continuous tape. Unlike traditional single-strip systems, obtaining a blood sample and performing a blood glucose measurement only involves just four simple steps....

"only" four?

Hope it's better than the original, it was to big and bulky and I didn't like, can honestly say it's the worst meter Roche have brought out.

This is almost the same as the existing mobile version or am. Missing somethin? Also why is this for insulin users only? I assume this will work for non insulin too?

I have the Accu-check mobile and it is very good. The self contained strip is great - no messing about - but with only 50 at £29.99 per time it is very expensive. The built in lancets have only 6 in each pack and have to be bought separately so if you are testing 3 /4 times a day or more.... well I'm sure you can all work out how expensive it is. It is very simple indeed - press the lancet button (finger gets pricked) place reader on blood... that is it.
I only bought it because I was looking for something easy but with great naievity didn't check the price of everything so consequently it has been sitting idle for a week having run out of tester strip.

I have just given up on my Accu-Chec Mobile. This is the second AC Mobile meter that suddenly decided that the cassette is faulty and won't let me proceed until I have changed the cassette. Back to Bayer for me!

You can use the lancets more than once provided you're certain you maintain cleanliness of the finger before applying the lancet device. I use a fresh lancet each day.

I have the compact plus which comes with a similar lancing device that is easy to **** and trigger and keeps the lancet out of the way.

What's annoying me is they see diabetes as a cash cow to milk for all they can by charging high prices for the consumables. Basically, they have us over the barrel as we need these to manage our condition.

PS. I'm changing over to using the SD Codefree meter as I have to pay for mine (T2 diet only, no free prescriptions), but will carry on using my Accu-Chek Softclix lancing device.

I have long given up on my Accu-chek mobile (too many "bad" tapes    ) and too bulky  but I still use my Fastclix lancets (one per day ) so it's a case of mix n match on equipment.

I have an Accu-chek Compact Plus and it works OK for me so I see no need to change it. Plus it works with the NHS for free strips aka "cassettes", more like a drum, and it has 27 in it... work out the maths for a given size of strip and drum. So far I have had very few duds and never lost a near full drum.
My dismay as to this new version is that it seems to me to be no less a hassle than before. Dare I suggest they have made no serious progress in the three years since I bought mine?
OK, I think it is wonderful being able to check my BG so easily but...
Consumables... it is no less a racket than inkjet printers.
Today, much of consumer electronics is more about platforms to sell consumables and services, mobiles especially, Sky etc.

Didn't realise that's how much they cost
