@zand is correct. I was given a stark choice by an endocrinologist when in my early twenties after embarking on a diet similar to the Newcastle Diet and managing to lose about 7lbs in as many weeks but make myself v ill in that my metabolism had gone into survival mode and was shutting my body down to preserve energy. He told me that I was one of his few patients that could honestly blame their metabolism for their size and weight probs and I could either eat healthily and remain as I was or be slim and dead - guess which option I chose!Well yes it's efficient in one way....it runs on very few calories...but when you are overweight this means it's almost impossible to lose weight. You need a certain amount of calories to provide a healthy diet to ensure that you get a good mix of vitamins and minerals - so you have a choice.. eat less to lose weight and risk becoming ill or eat the same and stay fat and put up with all the comments from HCPs and the rest of the world. Or a third choice of trying to find out why your particular body doesn't work like everyone else's. I tried the first two and am now on the third one.

There is about 10 years difference in life expectancy between the best and worse areas and nearly 20 years difference in healthy life expectancy. So postcode can make a big difference to the local average, whether it should affect your Qrisk is debatable.Yes mine does too! It drops by 1.7 putting me under the all important 10.
