NHS Shake and Soup Meal Plan Trials

Yes the initial study was to see if a "non surgical gastric band "was feasible and cost effective. Whereas bypass surgery is effective in the long term, it would seem that the diet variant is not so sutainable. GB studies have follow up results of at least 20 years showing continued success in terms of weight loss but some repeat surgeries were necessary.
The story for GB surgery for diabetes remission is not so well established. Here is a report on a 10 year follow up


It shows T2D Remission was 36% at the 10 year GB review. the ND article is showing only 7% of the intervention group remain at 5 years.
