Night shift and insulin

Hello, do you think working night shifts for 7-8 months in a row as an insulin resistant patient will further deteriorate my health? Does sleeping only during day time mess with insulin levels? I take inositol and follow a strict diet as well. How about smoking, I read that nicotine affects negatively as well, should I quit it?

yes.

Sadly, messing with your circadian rhythm will work against you. Sorry. There are some things you can do to limit the effect, but it's not about sleeping during the day more than about working against the body's natural hormone control. It needn't worsen your overall health though, if you eat in a way that keeps your insulin low, you may find that you can counteract this.
Smoking - well, you know the answer to that.

Here’s an item on the topic of night shifts and diabetes from this website:
I worked night shifts for 18 years before retiring. 9 months after retiring I was diagnosed with type 2. Were my night shifts the cause, who knows?
