Type 1 Night sweats & bedding!

Evening, my 17 year old son was diagnosed with type 1 last year and has night sweats...we need to replace his mattress, duvets and pillows. Has anyone got any recommendations please? Haven't a clue where to start. Many thanks

I suffer night sweats too, and always sleep with a waterproof mattress protector - change the bottom sheet often - pillow protectors and a lightweight duvet. Sorry I can't be of more help.

You need to rule out the possibility that he is going hypo, could he test his bg levels for a few nights to see how his bg behaves through the night?
 
Definitely agree with noblehead, bs readings would probably give an idea of what maybe occurring. Going hpyo could be a reason, I have had times when I've had night sweats for a few nights on consecutive nights and it's been when I've been struggling to keep my sugars from running higher than they should be.
 
as a start if you could set some alarms on the mobile phone to do some random overnight testing
say 1am and 3am one night and 2am and 4am 2 nights later
and depending on the results repeat if not conclusive -- and also speak with your son's DSN ( Diabetic specialist nurse )
for guidance with the results
 
If his glucose levels are ok throughout the night, then maybe try getting him to use just a sheet and no duvet.

My husband has night sweats and this has helped him immensely, among a few other things:
- just underwear to bed, no pajamas
- no socks (this is very important)
- Pillow protectors on all the pillows (the kind for allergies)
- sleeping only with a soft, cotton percale bedsheet
- no sweets or heavy food right before bed. This sometimes triggers strange dreams for him, which was him to sweat

We also keep the house at 17 or 18 degrees at night, which helps. I got used to it, and prefer it this way now. Especially since I sleep with a huge duvet on my side :)
 
I spent years having night sweats, and getting up in the early hours to change the bedding was a frequent occurrence, and I put it down to just being hot, until my fiancée (whose father is al T1D) pointed out to me I was going hypo. Throughout the night she started tapping my forehead as an indicator of low blood sugars, until I got CGM, and the alarms now do the job!
 
A waterproof breathable mattress cover would be better than an ordinary waterproof one. There's great tips above, especially testing for hypos. I hope you find something that helps.
 
Type one here, this has been happening to me too. Sugars ok all tests from the Drs fine
