Hello, i was after some advice please.
my son is 8 and was diagnosed when he was 3. For nearly 2 weeks now hes waking between 3 and 4 am with readings between 24 and 28. He'd had a cold so at first i put it down to that then last Sunday he woke and they were 32. He was throwing up and couldn't stand, it looked like when hes suffered a hypo, i got him to wee on a stick and it turned purple. We ended up calling an ambulance because he couldn't stand up. He had his obs done every 30 minutes at the hospital but we were waiting for a doctor for 3 hours and he started coming round. They said aswell as ketones he had other things in his wee and sent it off and they said he had a urine infection and started him on antibiotics. He finished them on thursday but his night readings are still high. Im not letting him eat after 6pm. He ive upped his levemir a unit and nothing is making a difference. When he goes to bed his numbers are fine, when i check around midnight they are still fine but between then and 4am they are rising to the high 20's i give him the insulin the meter says he needs but by him waking at 8ish they have only dropped to the low 20's and yet during the day they stay below 8. I don't understand what is going on. Hes at the hospital on the 29th jan but its a long time to wait for answers.
Sorry its so long.
