Hoping for some advice. My husband has type 2 diabetes and he started on LCHF yesterday, the good news is he's already seeing an improvement in his blood sugars, down side he was up twice in the night with low sugar levels (3) and we had a very early breakfast 5.30am (On a Saturday !) as levels were below 4. Low blood sugar levels are really knew for us as the reason for deciding to try LCHF was persistently high blood sugars with no difference between before bed and early morning. Any help welcome.

Ok the hypo is not good I know, but seriously the outcome is good. It means he can reduce whatever insulin promoting medications he is on and start reaping the health benefits (for a T2) of having reduced insulin demand. Honestly, this is pretty much the goal. Reduced insulin demand helps a lot with weight loss and basically all of the negative effects of being type 2. :) Yes seriously!

BTW. Please post what medication he is on.

When this happened to me my diabetic nurse suggested I didn't take one of my gliclazide tablets if my BS was staying in the good zone. If I were you I'd check in with the diabetic nurse or GP and see if you can lower any medication a bit.
