Hopefully my attachment worked. So firstly I am enjoying my new libre. I will do a full review after the 2 weeks use.

The best part is understanding what is happening during the night. Hopefully u can see the increase in my levels from about 2am. I had my evening insulin at 10.30 last night.

Just wanted to check if people agree this looks like I am not having enough Levemir? I have gone down to 14 units due to lows after breakfast but it looks like I have dropped to much.

Appreciate any thoughts

that is quite a steep rise.
Normally I would want to confirm those results with a second or third night to be sure , as well as a BG test to confirm accuracy on the Libre.

Thanks @himtoo that was my initial reaction that it was a steep rise.

I had my tea at 7.30 and had a carb heavy meal of pasta. In total it was 120g of carbs so I don't know if that could affect it.

I would have thought 5 hours later it shouldn't affect it that much but I might be wrong

I often get a rise at 5 hours post meal with pasta so I will sometimes split my bolus dose and take part of it about an hour after I eat to help minimise the spike

I would guess it was the pasta, especially if you had cheese on top (like any sensible person would) with something like a lasagne I won't get my spike until the middle of the night

I split my bolus for pasta too, I do half in my belly & half in my bum at the same time, but different absorption rates from different bits of the body...

120g carbs in one bowl of pasta, now you're talking! as the others have said I too would normally split my bolus for that, and still suffer a constant steady rise through the night, and then again I wouldn't normally eat that much pasta/carb in one meal.

It's finding a balance that works for you, I do about 40/% just before and then 60% a few hours after - any more than 40 to start with I go low then go higher later, any less and I go too high and struggle with the second jab to bring it under control even more so.

Interested in @catapillar method!

you need to split the dose for food like this :D i don't know much about splitting doses but i do know it's all trial and error.
good luck :D

It's like a do it yourself dual wave blous (without the aid of a pump). Sometimes it works, sometimes it requires a top up at the end. But it does eliminate the possibility of forgetting to do your second shot until after you have spiked!

Fortunately I normally eat late and so the 'few hours later' is around bed time when I always test and basal dose anyway, and that's normally when the pasta kicks back in and BS is starting to rise again (if only I could afford the Libre all the time!), in goes the 2nd jab. Might give yours a go next time I'm Libre'd up!

Hi guys. Firstly big thanks for all the replies they are appreciated.

Fortunately pasta is only a once a week dish but will definitely have a go at splitting it for the next meal. It's funny because I never really thought about injections and splitting until being on here. I have always just had my injection pre meal regardless.

For the first time in 31 years I am trying to understand this a bit more. I can't remember this bring covered in dafne but it just might not have stuck.

In part this is why I opted for the libre to get a proper indication of how my different meals react. I am hoping this will lead me to injecting at the right time
