Night time toilet visits

Hi,

It may be affected by your carb intake. Have you changed your diet around the time the problem started?

Carbs cause water retention for me. So the days after I stopped eating white carbs, I noticed frequent widdling as all the excess water eliminated. Then, without carbs to sponge up the liquids, It got to the point where I could drink a glass of water and time it leaving an hour later. It definitely wasn't uncontrolled sugar levels. They were good. It was simply water in, water out. I would get thirsty in the night too, drink, and wake up with crossed legs an hour later. Very annoying.

When I reintroduced carbs (e.g. A slice of brown toast at breakfast and maybe some brown rice at supper) I immediately stopped peeing by the clock, and went back to a normal schedule of one bathroom trip a night.

Interestingly, when I am v lo carb, I actually drink more, because I wee it out so quickly, I need another drink to replace what I've lost.

Sleep apnoea was the most likely cause for me. I thought I was a light sleeper for years, then was diagnosed with sleep apnoea.
A bad night could be 4 visits, now if I don't drink too much fluid in the evening, I can sleep through the night.
Really get a solid nights sleep now, but still half asleep during the day, start to wake up about 4pm(long story) not sleep apnoea.
I was told that the body shuts down to minimum during the night and it's when I was unbeknown kept waking up, that the body was still working, hence the kidneys flushing hte waste. Plus, being overweight and with diabetes, I can see my legs swelled when I go to bed, and ok in hte morning. This also depends on how much sitting around I do, which for me is difficult as I sit down for a job :).
Also suffered with serious night time sewats, soaking hte blankets, the missis had to sleep elsewhere, not had that for 3 or 4 years, I don't think it was related to sleep apnoea as it stopped before I was diagnosed. I reckon it's summat to do with cushings. Been feeling ok for 2 years now, not dead when i wake up in a morning. Hope it carries on as summat more than aleep apnoea is going on.

My night loo visits and night sweats are really getting me down. My morning blood sugar is around 7.6.

I can't function on less than 8 hours sleep, doesn't matter what time I go to bed, I wake four hours later desperate for the loo. And I mean desperate. At the same time I'm absolutely soaked to the skin. Once I've been to the loo the sweating subsides. It seems to be connected with the need to pee. So is the sweating the body's way of trying to excrete excess sugar when we can't get to the loo?

I wish I could sort it out because I'm exhausted from lack of sleep. At work yesterday I felt like lying down on the floor and having a snooze at 3pm, couldn't wait to get home. I just felt like my body was going to fold up and my eyes close of their own accord. I got home, straight into my jim jams at 5.30, had a mug of soup and settled down to watch The Chase. Next thing I knew, I opened my eyes and the TV was off and it was 9pm!

The weird thing is, I didn't even feel myself nodding off. I seem to have just gone out like a light. And I don't know how the TV managed to switch itself off!

I Googled something about night sweats and found a woman who had solved her husband's night sweats by using a fibre drink. Can't remember the name now, but similar thing to Fybogel. She said his night sweats stopped immediately. Summat to do with the Fybogel absorbing liquid from your body so less need to urinate. I'm going to give it a try.
