hi, i am in no way positioned to give advice as im suffering a similar problem, but as ive been told that stress causes bg`s to rise, maybee your stressed over the not smoking, just a thought

p.s. WELL DONE FOR NOT SMOKING ( you smell lovely now ) :)

I'm guessing but I reckon it's the fags ...well no fags as it were.
Giving up smoking is a serious challenge ... a serious addiction.
I've been stopped a few years now but Gordon Benet what a fight between desire and determination!
Your hormones your blood your lungs and heart your oxygen levels are changing ... stick with it and stay calm.
I thought they'd put a statue up for me on the village green after the battles I went through ... I deserved one!
Fifty years of forty rollups a day ...

COuld it be the start of a cold or something similar?

I get high sugars that I can't keep down when I am getting sick :(

I agree with Patch13. I have a bit of flu right now and my numbers have sky-rocketed. It could also be an infection or any other med-problem. I've been told heat is also a factor.

Try using a new insulin vial/pen in case the heat has affected it working properly.
You may be about to get sick or maybe your insulin requirements would change with coming off the cigarettes. :?: I don't smoke, so don't know if that might effect things. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

Its very common your insulin need almost doubles when you're sick. Why that is i dont know, but even my ordinary doctor knows this to be true, and it is.
Try knocking it down with Rapid as adjusting your slow acting insulin is risky. Once you get well again your need should normalize.

I have a pump so I increase my basal huge amounts and then add extra for my bolus too.
It would be interesting to find out why being sick has this effect.
