Hi all. i'm a newbie on here and newly diagnosed t2. i had my first blood test in over a year and the hba1 i think was 69. i am on a
Amlodipine 10mg daily for high blood pressure. COPD asthma etc.
my GP put me on Metformin 500 mg 2x daily. and ramipril 2.5 1daily. started on monday. last night tight chest. painful cough. i hate medication at the best of times. and have stopped taking them till i speak to my Doctor.
is there another way to deal with this as i don't think i can go down this meds route.
 
It is possible for some, many actually, to control their diabetes with dietary changes alone. To make a start, could you give us some idea of what type of foods you eat? No judgements here by the way. What is often classed as being healthy can affect our blood sugar levels so let's have a look at that first, brekkie, lunch, dinner, any weight to lose?

@redhead57....my partner was also on Ramipril which is a blood pressure medication....one of the side effects of this is a cough which may be what you were experiencing....is best to speak to your doctor about your concerns or perhaps your local pharmacist in the meantime whilst waiting for an appointment....pharmacists are very knowledgeable about different drugs and their interactions so could set your mind at rest in the short term.
 
I will tag @daisy1 who will post you out some great information to read through. It is possible for many T2's to reduce their blood sugars with diet and lifestyle changes. On diagnosis my Hb result was 100 and it is now 34 so it can be done. You should have a good look through the Low Carb forum as well.
