Non diabetic

@Leeroygunn Your HbA1c result of 5.8 would mean you are non-diabetic. Your GP is right that the HbA1c test is more accurate than meter tests, as it measures your blood sugar levels over the last 8-12 weeks rather than a snapshot at the moment of testing.
Your morning meter tests might be higher due to various reasons, stress, anxiety, not enough sleep. or you might be getting liver dump (Dawn Phenomenon) where your liver dumps stored glucose into your bloodstream as you wake because you don't have enough sugar in your bloodstream for the energy you need to get you going.
Some exercise like walking might help to lower stress, anxiety, and your blood sugar levels.
Some people find that a small protein snack like a few nuts or a bit of cheese before you go to bed can help prevent Dawn Phenomenon.
