Just wondering if any of you ladies have tried norethisterone for delaying a period? I've just been prescribed it as I'm due to come on whilst away visiting Christmas markets with my boyfriend and having had a copper IUD inserted 6 weeks ago my periods are agony, so I really don't want it to ruin the trip!

Just curious as to any side effects you anyone has had, particularly whether it affected your blood sugar?

Thanks!

A completely unhelpful reply, but I like to mention it every so often : contraceptive injections have meant no need to deal with periods in this house for years now, which is quite pleasant all round. If the downsides don't apply (some people don't get on with the hormones, if you want kids in the next few months it's not a great idea, probably some others) I reckon it's worth a look.

(advantages similar to IUD - nothing to forget apart from every 3 months, and they can now be done at home)

I've actually otherwise got on really well with the IUD. I wanted to come off hormones after years of the pill affecting my mood, just now means I have no control over my menstrual cycle!

My other half uses this to prevent periods when she does not want them, bit like yourself, the only thing she says is that the next period can hit with a vengeance, oh she is not a diabetic but was curious to see if she had any issues with it.
