The extended release Metformin tends to ward off side effects. Not always though.

Switching to extended release completely eliminated the side effects for me very quickly, and they were very bad on the regular.

For me it was an instant improvement. No side effects from day 1 and I am on 1500mg

My experience a bit diff... I went from constant diarrhoea on the regular to constipation followed by explosive diarrhoea on the SR version.

Current American Presidents.
I switched to SR in about July and the galloping trots slowed down to a canter. Definite improvement though (if you want the full story, type "midnight throne" into the search box at the top of this page) and it was a good decision. I've added Clopidogrel recently and now I've gone the other way, and I still spend ages in a seated position.
I'm thinking of adding Sky Multi-room in the loo now.
