Type 2 Normal Metformin Vs Slow Release Metformin

Hi all i was recently taken of normal/standard metformin and put on slow release metformin and i wondered if the new Blood Glucose readings would be slightly worse due to the fact the metformin is a slower release and acting slower....for example say testing 2 hours after food would you expect the same readings for both types of metformin?....just curious ...any thoughts ...thanks

Metformin never made much of a difference to my blood sugar readings anyway. In my opinion any potential difference is likely to be swamped by differences in the carb content of food or the size of the portions.

The main effectiveness of Metformin comes from the cumulative amount in the body, and not just in the period after taking it. So a slow release shouldn't make any difference on this.
