Not a nice subject but can I mention feet.

I was only diagnosed in March but doc cannot decide if I am type 1 or 2 and my last letter states "probable type 1".

Hope no one is eating whilst reading this but I wanna talk feet!

I have got an an appointment for a foot inspection. I suppose that means I will have to take my annual bath (That's a joke by the way...or perhaps not :) )

This is where you might need a strong stomach. For a couple of years I had a verruca which I have tried to treat myself and even tried the freezing treatments to no avail. This verruca seems to have a secret lover and has over recent months given birth to lots of little babies that have all decided to make home in a huddle on my right heel. I understand that verruca experts call this a mosaic, but it doesn't look like the kind you find in Roman baths...yuk.

Anyway, this mosaic has turned into the foot equivalent of benefit cheats and seem to want a permanent free ride at my foot's expense. And they cause so much pain when I walk.
To get to the point, I assume I am now barred from amateur tinkering with my tootsies but will the NHS podiatrist have any interest in trying to evict these freeloaders for me or will I have to go private.?

Yes, Yes and No, please stop tinkering with these beasts, the chiropodist will be interested and if they are worth their salt will have them sorted and it won't cost you a bean, like warts, verruca's grow on the end of nerves and are a virus so they will multiply if not treated properly,
Good luck.

I had the problem of multiple verrucas below my heel on the sole of my foot. Luckily they didn't cause much pain, probably because at the time I had excruciating pain all the time from ingrowing toe nails on both feet which probably masked the pain of the verrucas. Anyway, the verrucas went away all on their own, good riddance. I had both ingrowing toe nails removed. I went private for that because I didn't want to wait, though I was assured afterwards that the NHS hospital would have done them. If possible I would go private just in order to have the care when you need it. My podiatrist left my verrucas alone because they weren't painful and after many months they did pack up and disappear.
