Not a place for type 1 support

@Anaelena

I stopped posting on your threads when I realised that you habitually choose divisive and controversial subject matter.

To me, the forum is a very supportive place. I see every type of diabetic getting remarkable support and information.

Maybe we each see a reflection of what we bring here.

I guess for me discussing what is important to me is seen by some as divisive and controversial. I did not know the first time I posted that it would create such debate . That was my mistake for posting outside of the type 1 forums . Since then I have posted in just those forums ( type 1) . .. I also do not know what you mean when you say habitually when I am rarely on here . Habitually meaning twice ?

If I am being told to only discuss high blood sugars, carb ratios , and neuropathy I would completely understand the reaction . It would be appropriate. However , I thought this was for discussions about diabetes and the various issues that come with it . I also think for those of you who are so strong in the belief that we are all one why is it every necessary to have a type 1 and type 2 forums? Why not just have us all together ?

You appear to be chasing your own tail.. Why not take a deep breath & slow down on this subject?
My offer of discussion via PM still stands. & I promise I won't "bash". Whatever that means in your part of the world? :D

Now I wonder what does it mean in the UK ?

Personally, I don't mind people discussing any topic in any forum whatever their diagnosis is. I have T2 and I generally stay out of the T1 area unless the I think there is something I can add to the discussion, because while I have a lot of empathy for T1s, they know much more about that type of diabetes than I ever will. I only know a little bit about it because some family members have T1, and I also had a cat with T1. So I have purchased, stored and injected insulin, it just wasn't into a human.

I think it's helpful to have separate forums, so if a person wants advice mostly from people with the same type of diabetes they are more likely to get it. I dislike it when people try and control what others post.

@Anaelena, just because you post a thread in the type 1 section doesn't mean to say your only going to get replies from members with type 1 diabetes, a reminder of one of the forum rules:

• Type 1s may post on type 2 topics, and vice versa (and applicable to other types). This is particularly relevant to the ‘Newly Diagnosed’ and ‘Greetings and Introductions’ sub-forums.

I think this subject has been thrashed to death on so many threads and they have turned into nasty arguments then been locked, and yet it still pops up and causes strife, I sometimes wonder if people deliberately start a similar thread just to cause strife,
Diabetes is an insidious disease regardless of type and we should be standing shoulder to shoulder and fighting together to get some kind of cure/respite from its life destroying clutches.

I haven't found this place to be the most supportive when you post something that doesn't go with the accepted view.

As for merging, I see T1 as different enough to warrant it's own space.

Generally I think you need to be as self sufficient as possible, and this place is a great source of information. As someone who doesn't have a healthcare team as such, this place is one of several I get info from .

Forums on any subject are incredibly divisive, and this place is no different.

Oh, I am aware of the rules . I was just saying what I was told about posting off the particular forums . I am still basically new here and was when I made that post . I did not receive a warm welcome and was made aware of why . I have no issue with type 2s as I have repeatedly said. I have not gone after nor attacked anyone here for being a type 2 at anytime . I guess I will not be able to expect the same . It seems that people want to turn what it is I am saying into something completely different .

You have posted numerous times on the threads I mentioned.

What some people here may not realize is that I am not trying to cause any issues . I don't even know what the issues are here because I am not here often . Some of you may have been here a while and know what upsets people . I do not . How am I to know what upsets people from what has occurred in past forums ?

Which threads ?

Everyone here is made to feel welcome @Anaelena, however if you have a grievance with anything that someone has said to you then report the post and it will be looked at by the moderation team.

If you all feel good about bashing and personal attacks on other people because they might be new and not know the acts of engagement here , then good luck in getting new members and keeping them . If you want to justify your attacks go for it . I can't imagine what a mom with a newly diagnosed type 1 is going to feel when she asks about a name change or asks a question someone doesn't like . The group gang mentality is alive and well .

Again, such a shame the thread has gone, because none of us can refer to the actual words used in posts, so I have to go from memory. But, from memory, you stated pretty clearly that as a T1 you didn't want to be associated with T2s. That didn't feel like a very supportive or inclusive statement to me, but maybe I'm an overly sensitive person.

@noblehead - Has the thread been deleted or removed for editing?

I did not say I don't want to be associate with type 2s . What I said as a type 1 I did not want to be lumped into one group. That is a big difference . I am not a type 2 I am a type 1 . There is a difference . My father is a type 2 , I said that in the post . Do not put words into my mouth

Why don't you say I also kick puppies in the rain as well ?

You can't remember the threads you started and that became argumentative?
How odd, when you have started other threads (including this one) on the subject.

Yes I posted a thread on my experience as a type 1 diabetic . Go look at it and tell me how that is offensive ???

If you think me being a type 1 and having my own life experience is offensive . Hot **** .

It was a rant :)
