Not diagnosed, & looking for information

Hi folks, I joined after looking up diabetes online, as I to go to doctors on Wednesday for a fasting test, could anyone tell me what this is about? Do they send your blood away and what reading are they looking for.Should it be below 4 or higher, i haven't a clue what it all means. I am overweight, tired after meals, but sometimes feel better when I don't eat. Any info would be appreciated. thanks
