Not losing weight

I just can't figure out how you can eat 70% fat.

Maybe I need to get a book, any recommendations?

Thanks again.

This is what I ate yesterday... I would suggest you find something better for breakfast...I am eating 9bars currently seeing if I can stop the the liver dump every morning because I leave for work without having breakfast.

B - pumpkin 9 bar (Carbs 13/ fat 22/ protein 10)
L - home made ham and mushroom crustless quiche with a Mediterranean salad (Carbs 10/ fat 67 / protein 24)
D - peppered steak burger with crunchy coleslaw, cumcumber and lettice with fried onions, mushrooms and a little cheese (carb 19/ fat 29 / protein 29)

Sugar free jelly and cream for later if I need it. (Carbs 1/ fat 15 / protein 1)

Hope this helps

I doubt there are enough calories in your food Silver. You are eating very few carbs (good) and possibly too much protein (depending on the portion sizes you eat) but nowhere near enough fat. I would like to bet this has put your body in starvation mode, which will halt weight loss and make you grumpy and listless.

Fats can come from eggs, cheese, butter, olive oil (or cooking in rapeseed oil) mayonnaise (Hellmans) full fat yogurts, bacon and eggs, all meat, fish especially oily fish, nuts, avocados.

Have you been reading the threads about Dr. Trudi Deakin's book, called Eat Fat? She is the founder of the charity X-Pert, which is contracted to run courses for diabetics (Type 2's) on behalf of the NHS. Her handbook has just been launched. I bought a copy and can highly recommend it. Glossy pics and packed full of information backed up by science and research. It isn't expensive, and is a really good buy for people struggling with a low carb higher fat diet. Have a look http://www.xperthealth.org.uk/shop/details/p/handbook-lowcarb-highfat-lifestyle Loads of forum members have already bought it and I haven't heard a bad comment yet.

Hi

Bluetit1802 have you been speaking to my wife ha ha. She says I'm listless and grumpy too :-)

I am just struggling I think maybe too much meat and not enough of other things.

She is on Lchf too (not diabetic) but she eats cheese and yoghurt and nuts.

I have just read the thread in that book and I am going to order it tonight.

You don't have to eat 75-80% fat by volume.

But you want 75-80% fat by calorie, which is MUCH easier than you think.

Cheese, nuts, pate, cream in coffee, full fat milk, yog and cheese. Don't trim fat off meat, and voila! No need to stuff yourself, and please don't make yourself eat anything you don't find appetising.

Just make sure you cut the carbs enough to balance, or you won't lose weight.

To give you an idea, 100g of fat gives you 900 calories. If you make a bulletproof coffee containing 40g of fat you have already consumed 450 calories!

Just want to say thank you to everyone who has commented, it is greatly appreciated.

Book ordered today and all your advice has made me look at things very differently.

Thank again :-)

i love the lchf works alot for me , and 7 days a week i have cake and cream and biscuists etc i just make them myself on a saturday for the week ahead using coconut flour etc , i do occasionally have a treat but in fairness dont care for the sweet stuff now, i lost half stone in a yr but have stopped dead now , so will rethink to get next 2 stone of this year , keep us informed how u get on xx
that should of read 8 half stone in the yr ahhaah sorry xx

Wow, 8.5 stone in year, that's amazing :-)

I think if I lose a stone it will be brilliant!

Cut out milk, even the full cream one, just use fresh cream and your fat intake is higher and you won't crave carbs - worked for me

On a LCHF diet calories are not especially important as on a high carb low fat diet. I can eat way more calories now and still lose weight as compared to when I was able to lose weight on a calorie restricted low fat diet - about 1000 calories a day more!

I have started increasing my fat intake, wife made chicken soup today with some butter and cream in the stock. Felt quite guilty eating it but it tasted good. So think maybe feasting on only protein was probably not the best idea as I really was feeling quite ill, tired and grumpy. And was seriously losing interest in sticking to this but hopefully this has shown me the error and things will start to settle down now I have a better understanding of how it all works.
Thanks again.

Lucky you. If I exceed 2500 calories, I don't lose weight.

I am going through this problem too

My day

B eggs mushrooms and either bacon or sausage
L chicken or veggies with 1 wholemeal roti
D is mostly veggies in curry form or any meat in curry form
S is mostly either cheese or nuts.
At around 1030 11 I always have a bowl of yogurt full fat and home made absolutely love it
This is literally my day
I hardly ever eat anything sweet even when I was not diabetic so don't miss it now either
Oh yes 2 cups of tea and 2 cups of coffee
Tea is with sugar free but coffee is just with a dash of milk
On this diet alone I have gained about 7 to 8 kilos
One thing I found really low carb high fat was mns peanuts they were really nice just 4g carbs per 100g so I ate that for 3 or 4 days and believe me I gained a kilo more so left that sooner than I picked it up to eat.

Nuts are quite calorific as is cheese. Are you eating too many? I suspect this may be the case. Do you ever tot up your calories? What are your portion sizes like?

Tomorrow, bacon, eggs, 97% meat sausage (Black Farmers are good), tomatoes and loads of mushrooms cooked in butter.
