Hi there I’m Annie. Aged 59 Had type 2 for a few years now. Put on slow release Metformin in August 2017. My blood sugar readings have crept up to the 20’s again. My last HbA1c in Dec was 112.0. I am expecting a telling off this week when I go to the nurse. It’s carbs with me I think. Started to have bread again in Sept on holiday , bad move as it breaks me out In a rash and gives an aching tummy I have stopped again. Started today with no eating after 8pm as this seems to help. What do people mean re ketones? I am determined to get the reading all in the good areas. Cholesterol is 4.1. Blood pressure 125/73 Weight is 15st 2lb - this needs to come down. Just saying hi as I may be in here a lot lol. Had dinner at 5.30 now 8.30and I am very warm?

Can you test your BG for me?
What time did you take your metformin?

How many days has it been since eating bread, rice, potato and pasta/pizza?

Hi there. It’s at 23 at 21.29. I had 5 chips with my dinner at 5.30. Took my metformin at 9am. One in the morning one in the evening.

I don’t eat rice, past or pizza. It’s hurts I usually don’t eat bread but have done over Xmas. I have chips at the weekend but stick to about half a dozen.

Sounds like you may need more than Metformin to bring blood sugar down if you only had a few carbs and reading is 23. I would see your doctor. At least your blood pressure and cholesterol are fine. Good luck

Jeansgranny - Have you been tested for a gluten intolerance or Coeliac disease, with your tummy troubles when eating bread etc.?

Hi yes they say I don’t have anything gluten related. I have just avoided bread and wheat. As I know the outcome. But over Xmas I had to have a sausage sandwich and it was gorgeous but then I struggled for a day - it slows my digestive system right down. I am getting fed up now with it all a bit.
