The last time I remember getting a stye I was about 7, I cured it by falling down the stairs and hitting the side of my face on the grandfather clock and 'popping' it.

Given that I'm a bit older now, and don't intend to hurl myself down the stairs, any suggestions?
(the net tells me I can use anything from turmeric to teabags... even potatoes!)

Stye remedies ? As you say Phoenix there are many and varied ones on the net. Some I definitely wouldnb't give credence to ?

A medical site information gives a quite simple remedy of a warm compress. I have used this method and it is very effective.

They always tell you not tto fiddle with these things. Last one I had, I bathed in warm salted water, washed my hands, pulled out the eyelash in the stye and squeezed it. It popped, drained and didn't come back.
I'm not recommending this,

ouch the stye... I never these as soon as I'm stressed then up pops a stye...

Generally I used the old fashioned or should I say wifes tell method of dealing with them...

I rub my wedding ring along my eye lid, seems to do the trick for me... As they gone in a day or two after...

It is said it a reaction of the gold that sorts it, but I suspect that in reality it's the rubing action that bursts the sack/blockage out of the way!
