Not Seen a Doctor?

I was just thinking abut how I was told I was T2

The doctor rang me told me I was diabetic and then said I had to see the DN. That was it. I went to see the DN had a full on disagreement about how I would proceed and she did another blood/urine test. I didnt get the results for 2 weeks after she had them in her possession, she was constantly unavailable. When I did get the results the secretary told me as the DN appears to be avoiding me lol.

Is this normal
I think it's quite normal for doctors to delegate management of diabetic patients to the nurses...it frees up their time.

Like Bulkbiker Hubby manages his T2 with as little contact with practice as possible-aside from blood tests. They insist they are 'here to help' but only if you go by the NHS playbook. Not very supportive of folk who want to manage diabetes without medication we have found.

Only in England. Scotland has a different method. Wales doesn't have anything. All English surgeries were asked to put test results on line almost 2 years ago. I believe most have now done this, but you have to complete a consent form at the surgery, provide ID, and wait for a GP to authorise it. You are then given instructions on how to access it. It is the best facility going. Brilliant. My test results are on line within 24 hours. I can also see all my past consultation details, diagnosis details, vaccinations, and much more.
I wish ours would do this- we are only allowed to make appointments or order repeat prescriptions online. To get results you have to have a face to face meeting. Seems prehistoric these days.....

Not only prehistoric, but also an expensive way of managing things.
Have you asked the surgery more recently? Things may have changed.

I think I have heard that somewhere too. Do you have a reference for the source?

I cannot provide a link but if you searh for my post entitled 'There is Hope' you will find a video of a presentation there where the doctor cites this fact.

Why You Can’t Spot Reduce
Targeted fat loss doesn’t work because of the way fat cells are composed, according to Yale Scientific Magazine. In order to function, muscles rely on substances called triglycerides. These exist within your body’s fat cells, but muscles can’t use them as they are Instead, triglycerides convert into glycerol and free fatty acids, which enter your blood stream and become fuel for muscles. Your body could draw on triglycerides from anywhere within the body for fuel; it’s not possilbe to decide which body fat stores will be tapped first.

Had one of those done privately. Scored 40 which after 30 years of drinking , smoking and being overweight I thought was ok.. now will monitor every couple of years to make sure no worsening.

Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) is an effective method in characterizing fat content; however, it cannot discriminate between visceral and subcutaneous fat depots.
