Not sleeping well

I seem to wake up after 4 or 5 hours of sleep maybe four nights a week. I actively try to stop fluids 2-3 hours before sleep, thinking it's urine-related, but I don't feel a particularly strong urge to urinate.

But if I do get up to go, then sometimes I find myself not being able to fall asleep again (not easily anyway). Is this something to do with gluconeogenesis? That is, it starts burning protein and the cortisol makes it difficult to sleep?

I've recently started counting calories, and I strongly suspect I've been under-eating for a while now, so these recent days, I've been trying to increase my foot intake. Yea, I'm self-diagnosing, but ever since I cutting out a lot of carbs, most nights, my sleep ain't that good.

Any tips on getting a better sleep? I've read some people saying to eat some carbs (others say just some snack) about an hour before sleep, but doesn't quite seem to work for me.

I find nothing better than exercise to help me sleep. You know how it is, when you're tired at the end of a day you never have any bother getting off to sleep.

TV before bed is something else that tends to keep a lot of people awake at night, smartphones also.

Everyone is different but a light jog or brisk walk is sometimes all it takes.

Cheers,
Grant
