Not sure but would like advice please

Hi my name is John and I have just signed up to the forum. I need some advice please before going to see my doctor. As far as I know I have never been diabetic but over the last 12 months at night I get very bad pins and needles in my hands and feet, I have to go to the toilet 3 or 4 times and when I first get up in the morning I feel in a complete daze and cannot really see anything properly. This wears off after about an hour or so. I am 53 and a smoker and I drink moderately. I would be very grateful if someone could let me know what they make of these symptoms. Could it be diabetes? Thnks for you time.

Most of us ar not doctors, John and not allowed to diagnose. Nevertheless, you are abviously concerned, so I would advise you to see your doctor. There's any number of things /or none that could be wrong. Only doctors can order definitive laboratory tests for anything.
 
Hi John and welcome to the forum.Have you actually made an appointment to see your doctor? He will do several tests to confirm or otherwise if you are diabetic.Certainly your symptoms could be diabetes but could also be other medical conditions as well.
 
It's possible, but only your doctor can tell you for sure. However if he says you are NOT diabetic, make sure to ask if you are glucose intolerant. You could buy your own meter and take some test readings in with you, and many pharmacies will do a spot test. There are several other possibilites for your symptoms though.

You didnt realy need us to tell you to go see your doctor.
But if we can make you go then this is a great place.
Remember it may be nothing at all, but neither you or we know that for sure, thats what doctors are for.
