Bit of background, i have 3 little ones under 4, i was diagnosed with GD in 2010 my first pregnancy, in my second pregnancy i was diagnosed with type 1 at 16 weeks (they suspected slow onset type 1 due to my BMI/no family history etc and the antibody tests came back positive. Aside from the pregnancies i managed to control it by diet alone and my readings were always good with a hba1c in the 5's. I've just given birth 2 weeks ago and after the first couple of hours my readings settled down and once again i was controlling by diet but my fasting readings had gone up to 7's and 8's as opposed to pre pregnancy 5's. The last few days my post meals have been in the 11's despite being low carb and doing alot of walking about, my fastings have been in the 9's, so after a cruddy day feeling sorry for myself i've took the leap and corrected a 13mmol, hoping it will come down in the next hour or so. Just feels strange, i was hoping i would last abit longer without needing to inject, but i think the 3 pregnancies accelerated it and it was only a matter of time. I feel as if i've just been diagnosed again, but i know i can't keep having high readings and insulin is inevitable and maybe sooner than later is best. Sorry a random post, i'm just worried i will struggle hypo wise with 3 little ones, i feel like i've lost my freedom in a way, did anyone else feel like this when they had to go onto insulin (if you had a break from initial diagnosis)? Thanks in advance x
