Not sure if my results are correct

Hi Again everyone,

Well I did as I said I would in my original post, I waited about six weeks and took a second blood test, and the results are in...DRUM ROLL...............42 yea..............

Ok I'm prediabetic, that I knew before but at least its not actually Type 2 as yet. As I said in my original post, it was pointless having a second test just two weeks after the first given that I have been on such a high carb diet for so long. Having stopped eating so much rice and looking a little closer at what I was actually eating my blood sugar levels have come down to manageable levels. I know I will have to keep a close eye on things but then I have been doing that with regards to my Cholesterol levels for many year so no great shakes there.

To those who supported my position I thank you, to those who didn't nah nah na nah nah LOL

@mikejj I agree with you wholeheartedly. I dont see much point in having a test two weeks later. You seem to have your head screwed on, you have already identified the issue and you have worked out a plan to address it. It will be great to hear the update on your HbA1c in 3 months time. Once you get the next test results in you will soon know if your diet needs some more fine tuning. Keep us posted please.

Hi 4ratbags, Thanks, Perhaps I got a little defensive about some of the posts I received but nobody likes to be told they dont know what they are doing when it comes to monitoring their health. I have kept a close eye on my Cholesterol, BP, heart rate etc for many years,I'm also someone that believes in logic... fluctuating blood sugar levels, extreme high carb diet, elevated blood sugar... its a no brainer as far as I am concerned. I was expecting it to be a bit higher as I did go a bit mad over Christmas with the chocolate lol, so would not have been surprised if it was still around the 47 mark. Working on the premise that this could be my last chance at being stupid, I made the most of it lol so if anything, I expect it to come down a little further in the future. I am still going to see the DN in a weeks time and will of course continue to add this test to my regular 6 monthly blood tests just to keep an eye on things. I am aware that as I get older (61yrs now) the chances of developing Type 2 are pretty high but until or unless that happens I will simply keep an eye on things and be sensible -with the possible exception of chocolate at Christmas lol).

Thanks for your support and good luck with your situation

You and me both on the chocolate front over Christmas, my boss gave me some chocolates and we brought some for the kids and I had a couple then a couple more then I thought stuff it and ate.the whole lot :D

My next Hb test is in Feb, fingers crossed its still in the 30's, it very well should be but I still worry its crept back into the 40's.

I think your reaction to some of the replies you received were fine. Some on here can be quite judgemental and abrupt at times and though I know it is unintentional on their part it can upset you sometimes, Its happened to me as well on several occasions.

I look forward to hearing your future results, keep up the good work and stay well :)
