Most forums have ppl from different countries and background.
If someone PM's u how do u tell if genuine?
Someone 'reached out' to me, I agreed to buddy up. Exchange couple of messages then I got covid so didn't message until I was well.
Person not been about for around a month.
Scam?
Someone in distress?

Currently I have blocked to safeguard myself Ty if u can help.

When in doubt, please hit the report button under the message, that's what it's there for!

Doing so opens a pop up window where you can explain why you've reported. So reporting doesn't mean you want to say they have done something wrong, it's perfectly fine to report because you're worried about someone, or because you feel mods may want to be aware of a thread or PM.

I'm not sure if you still have access to that PM now you've blocked the member, but if so, you can still report. We'll only see the reported message, not the messages before or after.

You can also open a PM with me or another mod to have it looked at. If you do, we'll add the rest of the mod team to the message so we can all have a look for transparency, unless you ask us to keep it between you and the one moderator.

This sticky thread is informative on online safety as well: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/personal-safety-and-security-when-using-the-forum.132033/

I hope this helps!

You can turn the ability off to let people PM you in your proffile settings. It's one of the first things I do when joining a new forum.
