Noticeable effects on energy during exercise?

Bad grammar - eg this form says, "You're dislikes ...".
I am type 2 taking metformin with BP tablets and statins.

I started running regularly about a year ago and it seems to have had a positive effect on sugar levels and a less certain effect on weight which is borderline "overweight". I now run 10k about 3 or 4 times a week.

That's all just background. What I'm curious about is that my pace is still quite slow compared to others about the same age on a running forum that I use and it is not really improving. I wondered if anyone with a medical background, or similar, could advise whether the fact that my natural insulin is not working 100% could reduce my available energy significantly even when my blood-sugar is normal? Or is it just my age or perhaps weight (61)?

I'm not bothered about the pace as I run alone and don't expect to win any races. I'm just curious about the insulin/energy question.

As for pace, I think you'll find most people exagerate the distance and underestimate the time taken. A chap who runs similar to me and lives across the road states my regular run takes him only half my time. He didn't like it when I laughed at him and pointed out that he was therefore running a 4 minute mile over a distance of 5 miles every day of the week  I'd take distance and time with a pinch of salt and if your happy with yourself, sod the others.

Sorry I can't help with the medical question as I know nowt about metoformin and am not a Dr

Cheers cameraman

I think you are right about what many others say about pace but when you look at race results you can't really exaggerate the chips. As you are a runner you will know that 10.15k in 75 - 78 minutes is not great after a year of running.

I know that the big benefit is just the exercise and the slower the pace the longer the exercise session. I keep telling myself that that's the only reason for running now but the old competetive demons keep creeping up on me.

Well, you slow down with age, I'm very nearly 50 and can't run at half the pace that my Son of 26 runs yet I've run most of my life. The main thing is that you are taking exercise and its benefiting you. Keep that in mind and tell yourself you'll get fitter in time, It works for me and occasionally I'll pass a slower runner but mostly I'm still passed by these young gazzelles who seem to float past while I plod hard into the ground

first , how old are u

second , well some people run but not that fast , but I'm sure they can run more . like me I'm alittle slow and when it comes to distances I'm the best

so here is it if u are a teen you should exercise 1hour 5 days in a week and if u r and adult 30 min every day will do it .
