You are having a doctor treating your infection. Did you tell them about your worries and ask if you have reason to worry?
You have only been diagnosed for a short time, amputations from diabetes complications do not usually happen until after many years of high blood glucose.

What are your numbers like at the moment? The closer they are to normal, the easier you will heal.

no idea i dont know my readings
Have you had a recent hba1c? I've been diabetic for 55 years and still have all my toes etc. Yes, I've had numerous blisters and sprains in my time, but so far they've all healed up fine.

It's good that you are treating injuries to your feet seriously and consulting a doctor to get them checked out.

concerns about the legs of diabetics have two reasons:
1)we lose sensitivity due to neuropathy and we don't notice cuts in time.
2) Our blood vessels are damaged due to the effects of high bg.
For both, you need to have diabetes for several decades, and be quite negligent about your disease. None of the items are about you, so I think it's a normal wound that will heal like any other cut.
I think all of us have had cuts, including festering ones, but in most cases it's just a normal wound. I fell off my bike onto a mixture of sand and asphalt and then my knee took a long time to heal and fester, I stepped on a rusty nail and this wound also festered. Conventional wound healing and antibacterial agents have always been sufficient for treatment

thanks all for the messages. I have just got the cream and will be applying it to my feet daily. Will post back if there are any concerns.

If the cream doesn’t work, go back to the GP or pharmacy.
Those of us with any sort of diabetes need to take care of our feet and check them daily. This is particularly important if you have loss of sensation in your feet / neuropathy. Feet should be checked by HCP at diabetes review. As should blood glucose level in HbA1c test. I would also keep watch on blood glucose levels by frequent tests with a meter, myself. As already mentioned, it is generally when blood glucose levels are high that nerve damage occurs. This can lead to numbness or reduced feeling in feet, which in turn can lead to being less able to feel damage and injury to feet.

Hi,

I have.
One time was when the soles of a shoe had worn thin (car driving with a heavy clutch pedal can wear the sole down.) & I was in a hot country walking miles? & it was becoming more than discomfort..

After picking up a new pair of trainers.
I bathed my feet as regularly as I could, fresh socks. focussed on my BG levels as best I could & applied an antiseptic cream I sourced..

Best wishes that the cream you are prescribed alleviates your issue.
Just keep a close eye on the problem. Don’t hesitate to see your doctor
