Nova Echo pen

I recently received a nova echo pen off my diabetic team capable of giving half units and showing me how much I last injected. My BG levels went through the roof when using it so I'm now back to my previous pen. Does anybody here use one and how do they find it?

I don't have a problem with it. Are you remembering to count 2 clicks for one unit when dialling up your dose?
 
I am indeed I've been using a half unit pen for the past year....NovaPen 3 Demi!! The mechanism seems a bit fragile on the echo.

I got mine on prescription from the nurse at my GP practice. I looked the pens up on line, saw they were on the approved list for NHS stuff, printed it out together with the info blurb on the Echo's website and went down to see the nurse. I explained I thought that this pen would enhance my control and she agreed. She was fascinated because when she called up the website for the Echo, there was an informational video which she said she'll be recommending to patients.

I use mine for my Levemir and I use a Humapen Luxura pen for my Humalog because that does half units too. I'd hate to go back to only having full units.
 
I've been using two of them for the last few months for both my insulins with no issues at all. I love the reminder function on the caps.

Sheila are you sure you were going through the usual injection routines of priming, good quality insulin etc?

Not trying to state the obvious Sheil but are you dosing correctly. When I first got my Echo pen I was still counting the clicks as the pen dialled up and when I looked I was about to give only half the insulin dose, turning the dial twice for one unit takes some getting use to when your use to just the one turn for one unit of insulin.

btw, I've not had any problems to date!
 
Hi Sheil!

I use the Echo pen for my Levemir and find it really good. However, I used to use the demi for a short while and my BG were always high with it. After a couple of weeks I realised the pen wasn't accurately giving the dose so I swapped to the Echo and all has been well since. I think sometimes you can just get a duff pen. I'd ask for a new one if I were you.
