My niece is 10 years old. She has been on a pump for the last 5 years. The Doctors have decided to put her on Humalog instead of Novarapid. Her mom my sister is apprehensive but really has no choice. I would love any feedback about Humalog as i know no 2 people are the same...Cheers

Does your sister know the reason they have made this change? I'm usually of the view that things are better left alone if they are working ok. Technically your sister does have the right to withhold consent for a treatment change, but I know it's not easy dealing with doctors who insist on doing things a certain way.

They said her injection sites on her stomach is the main reason and that she too many pockets under the skin.

That's interesting - I'm not sure how changing insulin would help with that. Changing injection location or going on to a pump would make much more of a difference, surely?

They have tried other places and she is on a pump for 5 years. She hasn't got much excess flesh to play around with. Its normally her bottom or stomach. She spent nearly a year in and out of hospital 6 years ago due to severe Hypos a time none of us will ever forget

I know that after five years on a pump, there are quite a few people that struggle with infusion sites. How much time off the pump has she had in that time?

She has never really been off it much she used to have a sensor with the pump but had to stop using it because of the above too many sites

I'm using the pump since 1 year. Using 4 different site LH/Rh bottom/stomach. I used both Novorapid and Humalog and i did not find any difference.
I only experience problem on RH bottom, with both medicine, for which the insulin is not absorbed in time but with a high delay after 30-36 hours

I received two cartridges (MDI) of Humalog when I was first diagnosed. I'm now on Novolog (MDI). Can't tell the slightest difference between the two.
