hey everyone i realised novorapid starts to lower my blood sugar about 45-1hour after injection and it continiues to lower my sugar for up to like about 5 hours what is. my question is to everyone how long does it take for everyone else for novorapid to start working and lowering your sugar and how long does it last in your system?.

If you google NovoRapid profile, you will see how long it starts in your system and when it reaches its peak, on average.
I think this is quite close to what you have seen but we all differ slightly.

I wish I knew , I’m on it but not sure how it works .. I want to do lchf but I think that works well with humilin whatcha works after 40 mins .. really not sure about nova

@static192 . As with most things diabetic this question is difficult to answer.
There are so many other aspects to consider. Novorapid isn't the only thing that will affect blood sugar over a period of time.
Type of food is a huge factor.
Exercise, even a 5 minute walk can impact on levels.
Mental challenges, even having a debate with someone can affect levels.
Injection sites play a large part.
In answer to your question and with the benefit of a cgm I can largely back up your findings.
Nothing seems to happen within the first 30 to 45 mins after injecting. As for the 5 hr mark, well that's slightly more difficult. A lot of things happen within the 5 hrs that could influence results, but I would be happy to say that novorapid has the ability to affect levels after 5 hrs.
As pointed out though, we are all different.:banghead:

30min - 50min to start, it has normally finished in 3.5 - 4hrs. It does have a kick about 30min before it finishes. The kick seems to have gone now I have gone onto a pump.

I sometimes feel like Novorapid just sits there until I do exercise and then WHAM it starts working and sends me hypo! Even if I wait until 4 hours after injecting. I have been sitting on a high of 14.6, but knowing it isn't worth doing a correction dose because the Novorapid will kick in as soon as I start doing something - and yup, sitting in the car at 3.9 an hour later eating jelly babies like they are going out of fashion.

I take my nova rapid with my food should I be taking it half hour before food ? I wish I understood how it worked..

I am on novorapid and I take mine before I eat, once you take your insulin you need to eat within 10 mins. Hopes this helps :)
