Type 1 Novorapid Penfil cartridges

Even the energy and effort to recycle them is outweighed by using cartridges and a reusable pen.

They offers me disposables I said no the boxes of cartridges take up far less room than the pens

First of all, I was able to see that link with a VPN. In my country, they haven't told me to stop manufacturing disposable pens yet. When I switched to the pump, I thought they would prescribe me insulin in cristal bottles of this brand but not pens (since they have practically no plastic and the product is the same; only the area where the needle is inserted is made of rubber). I have been an insulin-dependent type 1 diabetic since before pens existed: insulin came in small glass bottles, which would break irreparably if dropped. I use an insulin pump and the refill is designed for bottles, not pens, but here's the problem: if I want bottles, I have to pay for them out of my own pocket. The pens are 99.99% funded by Social Security. I bought the first one and had to pay for it out of my own pocket (€5 for a pack of 5 pens to €90 for a bottle of insulin). And I've never heard anything here about reusable cartridges. And yes, I feel very guilty about the amount of plastic and other waste (e.g. sensors, cannulas, reservoirs and batteries, because the brand tells me that I can't use recharged batteries with the pump and it need 1 at week at least) that I generate every week. But what can I do? I try to recycle as much as I can, but that's not up to me.

Perhaps if some of the pump products did not come with a manual in seven languages, less material would be wasted. But it seems that it is cheaper for manufacturers to include a manual in seven languages than to produce seven smaller manuals, one for each language in which the product is sold.

For example, when they send me a replacement sensor, the box is the same size as when they send five, but without the internal divider for five compartments. So, who is wasting resources? Ultimately, it's me, but companies aren't helping to do otherwise.

Best regards to all
