After two and a half years of diet controlled T2 since diagnoses day, I have fallen by the wayside over the last three months with a hba1c of 7.6% (I think it was that as I have misplaced my blood test results from the Docs).

So the Doc has put me Metformin XR 500 tablets twice a day to see how I go with them. He was not impressed with the up and down readings that I been doing every day either.

Had a interview with one of the practise staff on getting into the weekly course that a dietician / educator runs at the practice. Waiting on the phone call for that one.

Hi tipetoo, are you having trouble sticking to your diet or is the big D just throwing you a curve ball? Mine has certainly worsened over the years and will no longer be controlled with diet alone.

I kept reasonably well with my eating habits, just of late the T2 has thrown a curve ball as you said.

Both my partner and I both cook our meals together, so have been trying to keep the carbs down.

My beer intake has dropped since I was diagnosed, but I think the Doc at the base hospital when I was in there with a A/Fib problem was referring to that when he said one beer a day.

The beer I drink is a mid strength low carb drop. 7.5 grams per 375ml bottle, less than when drinking pots (285ml). :D

Two months on with the Metformin 500, and behaving better with my diet, I am starting to show some improvement.

I have not been able to get the Metformin extended release tablets as they are in short supply in Australia, so I have had to get the quick ones. I have been taking these for the last couple of days and have had no problems so far with them.

Lost 2Kgs also, so I am almost down to my target weight 95Kgs.

Here's my averages from over the last two months (60 days).

Went to my GP yesterday for my three month blood test results, hba1c was 5.6%.

He then asked what I doing to get it down, and I said i was on a modified lchf diet. He never even blinked at that, and said keep on doing what I am doing as it is working and said well done as he shook my hand.

He even signed my application for subsidised test strips from the NDSS for the first six months next year.

I have lost 8kgs since September, and my bmi (for what it's worth) is down to 23.9.

My daily averages for the last three months are in this pix.
