A few years ago I had great control - always in the 6's with low carb eating. To cut a long story short I fell off the wagon. Had my hbA1c on 6th February and was shocked to see it was 64 - about 10.1 despite being on sitagliptin and pioglitazone. Came home from GP appointment a week later and decided to get back on the wagon - and back on here. Eight weeks from the last test I am now at 56. I can't find where I converted it before - all the numbers/measurements confuse me. Can someone help (in laymans terms lol).

The test on 6th February was showing signs of fatty liver disease - last test showed it was normal. Think I'm doing well thanks to low carb. I don't post much - I have depression and the effort is too much sometimes but I do a lot of reading and have found much encouragement here. Thanks to all who do post.

Yes, thank you - bookmarked now. So according to that I am down to 9.0 - not bad for 8 weeks work!! Thanks also for the encouragement.

Hi daisy,
I assume its NAFLD non alcoholic fatty liver disease but then you Irish so don't want to assume anything.:p

Heres' a video by Dr Mosley explain how to drain the liver of fat in as little as 8 weeks. He wrote the blood sugar diet book that many people on here follow. Basically exercise more, cut down on carbs and eat less, drains the liver of fat.
Hope that helps.;)

HI and hope you feel better soon. I am sure you will be back in the zone soon with regards to nafld and HBa1c because you know your actions have worked in the past and will work again.
Ivor Cummins aka The Fat Emperor had NAFLD too and talks about soring the root cause of all of this (high carb diet) in a very clear and helpful way http://www.thefatemperor.com/videos-/
What matters are your day to day choices; every choice is a chance to help yourself. If it feels tough then that's a red flag to me that you are dong things too intensively to sustain? This is a waggon you have to be on forever so it has to be a comfy ride!

Hi There is no Spoon,

It is indeed NAFLD - I have never drunk alcohol and still don't. Have loads of weight to lose though. I'll watch that video shortly. I've cut the carbs right back - don't measure them - no bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, cereal etc. Seems to have worked for the NAFLD in just 8 weeks for me. Been a wake up call this, the more reading you do the more you realise the damage that can be done.

Thanks Nicole,

I'll also read up on The Fat Emperor. I don't find it tough - I know I have to eat this way again for my health. I'm working as hard as I can - I've lost a stone in those 2 months as well.
