Numbness In Fingers? Help?

I've been diagnosed with Type 1 for 6 months now. I'm 14 and before I got diagnosed I remember waking up with numb fingers. It wore of and I never thought much of it. It happens a lot less now I have been diagnosed and trying to keep my Glucose Levels under control. However it does still happen maybe once or twice a week at any given point during the day. I know this is just a symptom of Diabetes but I was wondering if there is any way of stopping it? Thanks :)

I think it's very early days yet Charlie talk to your Nurse about it.
I was an old lady when I was diagnosed with T1, I had pins and needles and numbness at night before diagnosis (7 years ago) and though it is less I still occasionally wake up with numb fingers. The high glucose levels before diagnosis can cause some damage to the nerves As you are much younger than I, I'm sure that with good blood glucose control the nerves will regenerate and you will have fewer problems.

Thanks, Its just I hardly ever get it yet when I do its for a long time and was wondering if there was anything you could do to get rid of it simply :)
