Numbness in legs

Hi Guys

I suffer from Type2 Diabetes since 2008, for about 2 months I've had numbness in my legs, more in one leg then the other. There is some numbness in my hands. They feel hollow, difficulty walking, like can't control them properly.

Any thoughts guys?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear you're having that symptom :( It's best to see your doc about it as it could be a symptom for a number of things. For me personally I get numbness in my left ankle and foot but it is because I have 3 bulging discs in my lumbar spine and one of them is leaning on my sciatic nerve. So I at least know the cause of mine. I wish you the best in finding answers to what is going on. :)

All new symptoms should be reported to your primary health care professional. How are your glucose levels?
As has been said, not everything should be put down to Diabetes, better get that numbness investigated. Good Luck.

hi sorry to hear that. I suffer exactly the same and have had nerve conduction tests etc. read up on peripheral neuropathy and diabetic neuropathy. I am type 2 undiagnosed for a few years and this is nerve damage I believe caused by diabetes. I have been told there's no cure only controlled by good diabetic control. this is only my opinion by what I've been told by consultant but unfortunately with everything concerned with diabetes even the professionals don't know! please let me know if you are advised or told anything different ? good luck

Not great, pretty high. I had blood tests in October, best ever, HbA1c levl - 52 and not so great fasting glucose level 7.3.

Thanks I did Google peripheral neuropathy and diabetic neuropathy.
I had blood tests last week, they said they look o.k.
I'll see if they can get 'nerve conduction tests'.

Those numbers arn't the worst I have ever seen but they could be better. I get numbness in my legs and feet due to sacral sciatica but no numbness in my hands so it is time to see your doc and have him/her decide if further investigations should be carried out, I think this should be done asap as the sooner you know the sooner you can start to deal with the problem.

cool. I also get really bad cramps in my feet in bed where I have to stand up to ease it . I'm also struggling to control my bloods I've recently been in a diabetic coma for 4 days with high levels after being stable for 2 years so I feel you pain. hope you get support at the docs today

Yes, I really need to work at it. I went to the shops the other day, when I left the house, I was so cold. After leaving the shop, I didn't feel the cold at all. Very bizzare.

That's not great, hope things improve for you, you get back into a stable situation.

I've been referred to a specialist, take about 4 weeks to get an appointment.

Hi Guys

I had blood tests done, my Vit D is really low, 22 nmol/L. It should be 50.00 - 140.00 nmol/L range.
So I've been prescribed the max Vit D.

When I rang the Receptionist for the blood test results, she said everything was o.k. with the blood test results. Annoyed about that.

Update - had the MRI Spine lumber - shows Degenerative Change - No Action. Got an appointment with specialist in May regarding spine.

Saw the Diabetes Nurse yesterday, told her that I had Proximal diabetic neuropathy, Googled symptoms, they match. She said that my October 2017 blood tests were very good, so she thinks it might be something else.

Two weeks of the Vit D3 tabs left to take. Any thoughts?
