Anyone know where to find nutritional info on alcoholic drinks? I had a sip of Crabbies Ginger mulled wine and it was bloomin' gorgeous! I'm guessing that it has sugar in it but I'd like to know how much so as to work out how little a glass I can have . Tried googling without any success. Anyone got any ideas?

Crabbies Ginger Mulled Wine.
Can't seem to find anything much as it is fairly new. 12% ABV. As it is a mulled wine I would imagine it is quite high in sugar so be sparing at least !! A treat .....no more.

This link is to a portal where certain Beers/Spirits etc are listed but only if manufactured by Diageo.

We do have certain drinks listed in the 'Calorie Carb and Fat Bible 2010' which we use but not a great deal unfortunately. If we do come up with anything or somebody has knowledge of this then post it here for the member jaykay.

Thank you I thought it might be you that answered the question. Just 'cos you're a mod not because it was about alcohol

Hi J.

I am not an inveterate alcoholic..........

Finally found this one which is mainly about American Beers but the site has a section on imported Beers, mainly our UK brands which gives Calories and Carbs.........hope that might help. (hic)

You have to use that specialist bit of kit that nature has provided.

If it's alcoholic and tastes sweet then it's got sugar in it.

I sometimes add Splenda and spices to red and white wine it tastes a lot like mulled wine but with much lower carbs.

Decided to do the obvious thing. Had a small glass with some cheese. Before I drank my bg was 6.3.
2 hours after it was 8.1 So a very rare treat then!

Think you got off pretty lightly there! You more or less did your own GTT  Nurse told me that BGs rise an average of 3 points for every unit of carb (1 unit carb = 10g). So maybe around 10g of sugar in your drink as it probably went up a bit more and was on the fall when you tested at 2hrs. I'd find something less sugary if I were you!

I think I'm going to do what Hallii suggested and make my own!I always have fresh ginger in the fridge and I can add cinammon. Hmmm, wonder how many carbs if I just put orange slices in and take 'em out later. Time to experiment methinks!

Two drinks from my experience that i have to give a 3 unit bolus for each glass is ginger wine which I love at Christmas, and baileys, again only at christmas. Of course it will depend on what carb ratio you use.......

Luckily enough for me a glass of drambuiee or a glass of red wine doesn't raise my levels noticeably.
If I venture beyond this limit I have to give extra...providing I have a glass with dinner and a glass with my tea at Christmas I will be ok....anymore then I have to give extra bolus.......

Everything in moderation though!!
