Well Jem.......I've just got one thing to say.......I got some!!! Finally managed to buy some macadamia nuts from Sainsbury's tonight. They were in packet with cranberries. Good price too. So have you cut down on the amount you eat or something? :D

Most of it but my branch had got abot 6 packets left!! I think they'd been hiding them just in case she heard about them!! :D Loved the taste of them too. Quite 'moreish' I think  :D

Hi Ian. What sort of nuts are in it? I love nuts. Julian Graves are selling single small packets of nuts, crackers, fruit for 15p at the moment. They're tiny but just enough for one session. I bought 10 packets!! :D

Can I recommend wasabi coated nuts? :D You can get them from most supermarkets. They mostly are peanuts, but I have had Wasabi coated macadamias before from Sainsburys, they are lush!

only if you like horseradish which I dont but my father does.

Yes sorry should have said, they are quite hot! Can't get enough of em.

Almonds, cashews, hazels, macadamia, pecan, pistachio - carb 12.5% (from the cashews - I eat some & fish some out for my wife.)

Dried fruit contain 70% carb, except dried apricots (35%.)

I take a mix of nuts & apricots to the tennis club, & test BS between sets, & have an apricot if I'm below 5. I can keep it at 5-7.

Will definately have to try them Ian. Eating packet of sultanas and craberries snack pack from julian graves at work desk. will have to carry some with me to and from work as I've started having hypos on way home. :?

it's only because I went away at the weekend lovey ... down to burnham on sea and froze my holy butt cheeks off in a caravan for a few days ... *sigh* the only thing to eat that was indeed both vegetarian and low carb was a half manky salad ... so I did indeed succumb to some chips ... DANG!

Back home and nuts once more!

Groans in desperation. I REALLY miss chips. Big, fat, greasy chips covered in brown sauce  .
Have resisted the temptation for months. I just can't give in or I will find an excuse to do it all the time. On the subject of Macadamias though, I love them and have them every day. Wish they weren't so expensive though!

Caitycakes x

I prefer the thinner juicy chips with a little bit of salt and vinegar on.
Ate a 100g bag of macadamia nuts over the weekend and really enjoyed them....mmm.
Must go to sainsburys on way home to see if they've got any in. Stock up on them. :D

the chips WERE yummy and I shared a portion with my son (he's four and ahlaf and eats like a hungry horse) so it wasn't awful - but I did notice just how lethargic and frankly **** I felt when my BGs tipped the monitor at just shy of ten - eeeeek! I couldn't stay awake!

as to HOW cold - it was sub blinking zero ... the caravan only had heat in the living space so when getting into bed and under the duvet, three blankets and and my thick parka coat over the top we were vaguely amused to have our breath misting up! ARGH! and you'd think I would have remembered all this - I lived in a caravan for FIVE years ... wonder why we (kids) always had bronchitus and never ending colds!!!???

hmmmmmmmm ... macadamia nuts - I feel the urge ;) but will instead had a large chunck of coconut chocolatey goodness! must be so high in fat but soooooo yummety :)

Have a nice day all you fellow nut-lovers :)

I had nuts and dried apricots for breakfast - which is a minefield isn't it, on a low carb low fat diet? :? I had brazils, macadamias and hazelnuts mmmmmm... not many tho. Hungry again now.

Breakfast can be a sod ... the delivery guys (yep two of them) arrived just as I'd stepped out of the shower (lucky them NOT!) with my protein powder order ... bit too late for my feeble-Monday-morning-ness to cope with :) ... but that is a very viable option = to have a protein shake for breakfast - because (like the sensible human that I am) I have doubled my brekkie problems by being a vegetarian ;)

A good protein shake made with soya milk and a dash of cream will always keep me hunger free til lunchtime.

Now all this talk of macadamias has made me want some!!!

Still it's better than gorging myself on the massive tin of roses my dear husband left on the counter top in the kitchen *sniff*

How thoughtless of him! I was the same in the supermarket yesterday, I found a shelf full of Ritters Sport bars and nearly cried. :(
The protein shakes sound lovely! Where are they from? :D

Protein shakes are probably an acquired taste, but you can add things or choose carefully to find one that suits you --- if you are interested PM me and I will send you details of the site where I buy my proteins from ... had chance to unpack the new protein powder which is customised to my exact requirements :):) has all kinds of goodies in it - will tell you tomorrow if it tastes like kaka or not :)

They do a whey protein "sample" in a bag for 99p (plus shipping) in a whole bunch of flavours (including milk chocolate YAY) which are high protein and very low carb - I mix mine with soya milk and a dash of dairy cream and shake it (you could blend or use a stick blender or a whisk) and they taste beautiful! The "sample" packs give you a chance to try the flavours before buying a whole big bucket - which works out very good value in the long run :)

Best, J/xxx

Tescos have an interesting pricing policy -

100 g ground almonds - £1-07
200 g ground almonds - £0.90

I filled my trolley
