Occlusion alarm suddenly going off lots

My last set change 3 days ago appeared fine. I do my change at lunch mostly and then I can eat and test set is working. BG were fine but at dinner I went to bolus and occulsion alarm went off. I'm on the animas vibe and this alarm rarely goes off but is normally correct so I pulled set. There was a slight kink so I fired new one in. This one had occlusion alarm almost straight away. Didn't look kinked though. Third set same thing. Finally 4th set worked but whole thing shook me up. BG levels weren't great but also realised next day I had throat infection so not sure if set/bug or combination.

Anyway next set change today and another occulsion almost straight away. Pulled set and didn't look kinked, maybe slight curve but that could have been removal. Next set seems fine but now I'm so shaken up I don't trust it. I suffer from anxiety and I can manage a failure but so many close together has shaken me up bad. I also have needle phobia so inserting sets is always tough for me and having to do so many all of a sudden is hard.

Anyone got any ideas why so many occulsion alarms? Could it be pump fault? Have checked sensitivity setting still on low. Bad batch of insets? I am over halfway through box though. My biggest fear is site fatigue but I rotate religiously and I've been using bio oil to help heal and improve my sites.

Looking for reassurance mainly to help calm me down as sat here shaking. I love the pump and it's changed my life but when it does this it scares me.

Hi Mushy, you need to ring animas and tell them of the problem. They should send you replacements so do not bin the faulty ones just in case they want them back.
You need to set the alarm for high though as it will sound sooner that way. Did you prime the tubing after the alarms to see if that was a problem and not the cannula?

So do you have alarm on high then with no problems? With my old 2020 I had it on high and was told not to by diabetic nurse as it's too sensitive. I did prime the tube each time as you have to anyway after an occlusion alarm. Primed fine each time. Previously I've only ever had the alarm on kinks or once on sore site and these days such issues are rare. I am going to ring animas to report the issue as well. Just hoping this set works!

Hi Mushy, your DSN needs shooting at dawn yesterday
If you have your pump basal set at 0.025/hr then low will take 120 hours to alarm 72 hours for high.
1.00/hr 3hours 1.5 hours for high.
3u or more Bolus 30 seconds 8 seconds for high.
That's quite a time difference and could cause DKA if you have a problem.

If the set you have in causes a problem then try another box and insist they are replaced by animas

:eek::eek: That's a HUGE difference!! Going to change my setting now and when I go to clinic next am going to correct DSN. Thanks for heads up!

I had this the other day, I ended up doing 3 set changes as the set didn't feel right, but the pump didn't alarm or any thing and on removal the sets didn't look kinked, they just stang and when I filled them, it hurt. Lucky enough the 4th worked and had no problems but the one in my thigh caught the edge of the muscle(or it felt like it) and it bleed when it was removed. But a week ago I rolled over in bed and was on my side for a couple of seconds before rolling over again and the pump alarmed saying prime/no delivery. So detached the set primed and did a small fill as I was not attached, as I don't know if you can skip the fill bit?. So tested as I wanted to see where my levels were and I was 2.6.
