Hello friends,

I am really surprised today.

3 months ago, my fasting blood glucose level was 109.
That is why, my doctor recommended me OGTT test.

Today , I visited hospital and I had OGTT test done.

Today's Results :

Fasting blood glucose (blood from finger) : 102

OGTT 0.minute : 105
OGTT 60. minute :115
OGTT 120. minute : 77

77 value came to me very strange.
In other words, my postprandial value (77) is much lower than my fastinating value (105)

Is it normal ?

Do you have any idea ??

Thanks in advance.

Have a read up on reactive hypoglycaemia. You may not find it relevant, but if you do, there are some threads on this forum that discuss it, and they contain quite a lot of info on diet.

Did the medical staff suggest any explanation?

I dont know hypoglycemia.
Is it more dangerous than hyperglycemia ?
Anyway, I will read your link.
Thanks.

Hypoglycaemia is the opposite condition. Low BSLs as a norm.
I am RH and having hypos after carb intake. This result could be RH or a pancreatic disorder.
Has your doc given a diagnosis?

Hyperglycaemia is too high blood glucose.
Hypoglycaemia is too low blood glucose.

They are both the result of impaired glucose tolerance. They can be very mild, or very severe, but they can both be dangerous.

I did not see the doctor.

77 is very low.
I think this value is very close to hypoglycemia .

May there be any link between overexercises and hypoglycemia ?

Exercise does affect blood glucose. There are some threads over in the exercise section of the forum that explain it far better than I can.

Welcome to the forum, by the way. I hope you find all your answers!

Everything you do and eat affects your BSLs. It all depends what your norm is wether it's high- hyper. Or low- hypo.
You have had a post prandial reaction to the glucose tolerance test. Hence the hypo. There are many and varied symptoms. Have a look at the thread 'according to my specialist' it may give you an insight. Did they treat you after they took the lower reading?

I am just trying to understand the mechanism in which fasting blood glucose is high but postprandial glucose is low.
Anyway I will read threads .
Thanks.

A before evening meal reading would be a help. You may have around 77 as a normal level after your morning fasting of 105
Normal is 63-100 range throughout the day.
You are a touch high of a morning, but 77 2hr is good.

If it is correct good news for me.
I hope you are right.
Thanks.

Google, diabetes diagnosis
It will give you the numbers, your after meal number can be higher than 100 and convert <6.6 at 2hr for normal
With a home meter there is an error rate of up to 20% either way
