I guess I am now one of the millions. Blood sugar levels are dropping from yesterday, but the reality is that this is not good. 14.1 yesterday (fasting) to 11.1 this morning (fasting) is not what it should be so bum, bum and triple bum.

Got a doctor's appointment for Thursday morning so I will start the pin-cushion course some time shortly afterward. Think I may go down to the bar and stand in front of the dart board for an hour to get used to the condition.

Would not mind, but I am totally asymptomatic and would not have caught these numbers if it had not been for the usual monthly test that I do. Guess being pro-active may not be such a bad thing after all.

With a sense of humour like yours, I reckon you'll do ok even if you do get a diabetes diagnosis! There is lots of info to be found on the forums, as for the pin cushion course, well...I wouldn't worry about that too much at the moment.

If you are type 2, there are lots of options open to you, diet and exercise to start with or maybe meds..wait and see what doc says.

One of the difficulties that many of us face is getting our quac..ahem HCP's to prescribe testing strips for self monitoring. If you do have the diagnosis I would certainly try and impress the importance of self monitoring and therefore proactive care for yourself, unfortunately many GP's think we should just take the tablets and have an HBa1c test every few months.

Will keep fingers crossed that all goes well, please keep us posted.
