Hi everyone!
I have been pre-diabetic for 6 years but recently I've been officially diagnosed with type 2. My GP prescribed forxiga, sukkarto and the victoza injection. I am using the AgaMatrix glucose meter and trying to get 6 tests every day. I'm a little confused though. Can you tell me which are the "acceptable" results before eating something, after eating, and also how long must I wait to be tested after eating? Is it 90mins or 2 hours?
Thanks

Hello and welcome.

Great decision to get a meter it is the tool that will help you work out what you can eat.

So testing- the general rule is to test before a meal and 2 hours after the first bite. You are looking for an increase of no more than 2. That said- everyone's bodies is different -what matters is consistency. After a while you will work out some 'safe' meals and won't need to test so regularly. I still test at least 3 times a day as I have an app which predicts my HbA1c and I like to keep an eye on it.

I suggest to start off with finding out what your levels are and the effect of food on them. I aim to keep in the 5s and 6s but that is not something everyone can do. In addition it may take a while to come down. Another factor to consider is that both stress and illness can raise your levels- along with some other things.

Let us know how you are going and how we can help.

Welcome and good luck

Hello & Welcome :) What was your HbA1c - imo your doctor has prescribed quite a few medications for you being newly diagnosed but I don't know how high your results were but that is my 1st thoughts ...

I myself had a high 86 when 1st diagnosed Type 2 but I decided to control this through diet and keeping active only
