Hi guys,

Just seeing what is the oldest T1 that people know and how long have people had T1 for as I read T1 life expectancies are reduced by 10-12 years

Hi,

Wow. That’s a question.

My mum was probably told I wouldn’t see my dotage when I was diagnosed 49 years ago..
I’m still fully functional & agile enough to take care of the woman.
Dr Bernstein, I believe is 90 years old? I’ve read of other pensioners still living with T1.

I guess it’s the luck of the draw..

Hmm, this lady in New Zealand died at 94 after being diagnosed age 6. 88 years is pretty good, particularly since half of that will have been pre glucometer.

I’ve been Type for [emoji6][emoji[emoji6]] years from the age of . Have coped pretty well until suddenly high pressure in eye which has been diagnosed as diabetic complication and high serum globulin and serum urea. Feeling ill but not sure why. Awaiting further eye clinic appointment and repeat blood tests. Watch this space! Also feeling very sorry for myself as eye medication has sent my blood glucose soaring.
