I’ll need to wait another hour...Probably the plums. Did yoou test 2 hours after the plums?
Thanks yes, I’ve been enjoying strawberry season and of course cherries. Neither have effected me as yet...You will be better sticking to berries.
Holy maloney! Had no idea and I’ve been wolfing them down! Thought I’d levelled on my weight last week. What a Pillock, Thanks for the heads up. This is certainly a educational journey. (As I return the bowl of cherries to the kitchen!)Be careful, cherries can be high carb. I have some in the freezer and have 3 with cream.
I was the same , I had a satsuma tested my blood 2 hrs after 10.2OMG! Thought a quick test before dinner having had chicken for lunch and 2 plums about an hour before test. Knock me down with a feather! 10.4!!! Highest reading I’ve had in 3 months. My test this morning was 5.0! No more plums for me me thinks!!! Lol!
I checked cherries today and they were about 1 g carb each!!!!Holy maloney! Had no idea and I’ve been wolfing them down! Thought I’d levelled on my weight last week. What a Pillock, Thanks for the heads up. This is certainly a educational journey. (As I return the bowl of cherries to the kitchen!)

Oh that's brilliant - thanks JoKalsbeek.....(I've been eating cherries like they've been going out of fashion thinking they were part of the berry family! Lesson learnt!!https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/fruits here, maybe this'll help.I don't usually have fruit any more, but if I do, it's strawberries with cream. About two or three times a year, as a special treat. I pay for it afterwards (dairy is a problem, and I can't stick with three strawberries. I murder a box), but a few times a year it is worth it. The rest of the time... Nah. But it wholly depends on how low you want/need to go, really. Maybe some berries in full fat greek yoghurt or thick cream for dessert (or breakfast)... I can't get away with that any more, alas, but if you can, enjoy it!
Great advice thankyou. I wasn't aware at the quickness of fruit being digested as Ive always waited 2 hours and as everything seemed OK, I continued on my merry way chomping on my never ending cherries!Hi @Chiefy
Once a year, at the height of cherry season, I buy one large punnet and eat it.
I start in the morning, and spread them out, probably 1 every 20 mins, throughout the day until they are finished.
Yes, it is a lot more carbs than I should be eating, but for one day, once a year, my body can cope with the drip feeding of sugars and (having tested this) my bg just stays a smidge higher than usual, all day.
My point is, portion size is key, so is understanding how your body reacts to these things, and for that, testing is key.
Fruit gets digested very fast - especially on an empty stomach. A handful of cherries probably won't show up on a 2 hour test at all, but test at 20 or 40 or 30 mins, and it will likely be a different story.
